AbstractThis research attempts to analyze the present structure of China's export industry, and on the basis of the research findings propose strategies and measures to optimize the structure. For the purpose of comparison, the transformation trend in the world export market is also studied. In addition, a case study is catTied out to obtain a more detailed view of export industry in China. Although China ranks 11th in the world in terms of export volume, export structure still lags behind developed countries. At present, the low value added and roughly processed products are the mainstay of China's export industly. The high-tech and high value added products have not been sufficiently developed and promoted to the international markets. The recommendations are concentrated on stage-wise operational strategies and measures to optimize export structure in view of present industrial development status, export administration system and the demand in international markets. Its suggestions concern both the export administration department and exporters in China. Electronic products and complete set of equipment, among other high value added products, are the most promising sectors which deserve full development. They will help narrow the gap between China and other developed countries in terms of export structure.
