AbstractIn order to breakthrough the economic bottleneck and to create another economic miracle, the government has established the world famous "Science-based Industrial Park". The objective is to attract foreign high technology with well planned steps, to take every endeavor in this industrial renomation and to lay the foundation of the new industrial structure and further to stimulate advancement of the domestic industry. In fact, under full support of the government, the Park, through the endeavors of its entire staff, has had substantial achievement in the past 17 years in attracting hightech industries, recruiting and training necessary manpower and encouraging research, creation and marketing of new products. The achievements are summed up below: 1. Attracting High-tech Industries and Promoting Investment 2. Recruiting Technical Specialists and Stepping up Training 3. Stimulating Research and Innovation, Developing High-tech Products 4. Strengthening Administration Support 5. Ongoing Expansion of the Science-based Industrial Park 6. Planning a Science-based Industrial Park in Southern Taiwan Based on the study, successful factors of Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park (HSlP) are summarized and recommendations are formulated for Science & Technology, Research & Development Park (STRDP, Science Park). Special for the successful factors that learned from HSIP, this is also why Taiwan has come to be taken as a model for newly industrialized countries.
