AbstractThis research is conducted to investigate new kinds of construction materials. The study investigated the use of paper ash, leaf ash and food waste ash as construction materials. A series of experiments were conducted to determine physical and chemical properties of paper ash, leaf ash and food waste ash which are referred here as PA, LA and FW A respectively, and the characteristic of paste containing different percentage of the ash. For the paper ash, leaf ash and food waste ash; the specific gravity, Blaine fineness and chemical composition were determined. For properties of paste, flow values, setting time and compressive strength were determined. The replacement percentage of paper ash and leaf ash varied in this study were 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 percent while the replacement percentage of FW A was 0, 10 and 20 percent. The water to binder ratio of pastes in this study was fixed at 0.3. Experimental results revealed that paper ash, leaf ash and food waste ash cannot be utilized as pozzolana. For flow value, the flow value decreased when the percent replacement increased. In the part of setting time, the paper ash-cement paste decreased the setting time of paste while the leaf ash-cement paste and food waste ash-cement paste increased the setting time. For the compressive strength, the paper ash, leaf ash and food waste ash-cement pastes decreased the compressive str~ngth when increasing the replacement percentage.
