AbstractIn this study, arch structures of built-up section are investigated using analytical and finite element analysis. Non-prismatic arch structures are the major concern due to the possibility to vary lateral rigidity of the cross-section as required by the lateral stability. Both inplane and out-of-plane responses were presented through comparative study between finite element methods and analytical approach. Parametric study of different cross-section and arch geometry are carried out, using nine-node geometrically nonlinear shell element.
