Abstract | The compression of bonded circular elastomeric bearings are studied using two types of approaches, "pressure" and "approximate-linear" approach. The solutions are based on the linear theory of elasticity and a number of assumptions. Analytical expressions for the compression modulus and shear strains of bonded circular composite elastomeric bearings are developed by using the pressure approach. The approximate-linear approach is used for the circular solid and hollow elastomeric bearings to develop expressions for the compression modulus and shear strains. In this approach the rubber bearings are considered to be incompressible. The problem is also analyzed by using the finite element software STRAND6. |
