Abstract | Construction is risky business. To stay solvent, one has to minimize risk. Since the estimate is one of the important parts of construction processes, it is either the first step toward a successful, profitable project or the first step toward disaster. Therefore, it is necessary to produce well estimate with accuracy and efficiency. Nowadays, due to the great increasing in the use of computer and associated information technology with construction cost estimate, the cost estimate procedures do not limit to only traditional method. However, to implement this kind of state of art cost estimate technology is not easy. Because there are many obstacles for adopting such a modem cost estimate technology. Hence, the proposes of study are to determine what kinds of estimating technologies are used widespreadly as well as to identify any obstacles to computerize cost estimate procedures. However, the research is limited only construction firms located in Bangkok area. The data collection will use three major methods, questionnaire, interview, and collecting official document. The data analysis will base on statistical methods. Finally, to find out any appropriate strategy to overcome the computerization obstructions is presented in recommendation part. |
