AbstractThe post harvest activity of crops were examined to reduce the post harvest losses and marketing costs transportation from farm field to district market or Lalundu II. In the prevailing marketing systems, consumers are paying 60 % higher than what farmers are receiving. The difference between the price of consumer and farmers is due to the high transportation costs and post harvest losses. The post harvest losses during in handling and in transportation can be reduced by improve facilities transportation and improving handling crops. Poor handling in marketing price further increases marketing costs by addition of indirect costs of handling and transportation of the crops, which can loss in marketing. The price gap between producers and consumers can be further decreased by reducing the number of intermediaries, because the wholesalers profit can increase 50%, if the handled crops themselves without collectors to transp01ied. To improving post-harvest . handling systems using a management model, was divided by into time delays, yield left and yield losses were observed in each handling and transporting operation from farm field till to the wholesalers district market. Assume that if there is low transportation cost and physical loss then producer's share and profit margin will be increased. Suggestion were made to improve profit margin and handling systems so as to either improve facilities transpo11ation or reduce time delays in getting the produce fast to the consumers before the crops are not accepted commercial (vegetables and cassava).
