AbstractMany optimization techniques have been explored so far, but none have explored the tile layout optimization. Tile layout optimization using Genetic Algorithms (GAs) is investigated and the layout techniques, user's specification and aesthetics of layout are considered in this study. In this study various experiments have been carried out to test the affects of the GA parameters such as population size, crossover rate and mutation rate effects on the tile layout problem. The experiments have been conducted on three different types of models, to acquire the best GAs parameters for finding the optimal number of tiles on user surface layout. As a result, a Tile Layout Support System (TLS) has been developed, which is composed of various component parts like Dialog Interface Component (DIC), User Draw Interface Component (UDIC), embedded Genetic Algorithms (GAs) and Graphical Display Interface Component (GDIC).
