Abstract | With the emergence of Internet, Java, and popularity of the World Wide Web (WWW), the software industry has recognized the potential of the Internet for the deployment of distributed applications. The complexity of such applications is high and requires many difficult and critical tasks to be done. The use of object oriented technology in the design and development of complex applications can increase productivity and improve the quality of the resulting system. In this thesis, we presented an object-oriented framework for modeling and designing dialogue based applications for inter-networked environment. The model consisted of client/server architecture. This framework used object-oriented approach based on UML class diagrams, block diagrams and state diagrams. To illustrate our work we developed an online interviewing system using our proposed model incorporating text and audio as a communication media. Java's multithreading capabilities were extensively used to obtain a highly flexible and extendible system that is dynamically configurable at runtime. |
