Abstract | Presently, the interior illuminance due to daylight transmission through window are calculated by two methods which are daylight factor method and lumen method. Both methods perform a good prediction of indoor illuminance, however, they still provide some constraints based on their assumptions and calculation format. The study of this thesis deals with the sidelighting calculation. The objective is to develop computer calculation tool for estimating interior illuminance which can reduce the constraints of the existing tools (Daylight factor method and Lumen method). Based on developed computer program, the interior illuminance consists of direct component and internal reflected component. The direct component at each point in the lit space is calculated by integrating the illuminance due to the light source visible through the window by that point. The internal reflected component is calculated by using flux transfer method. Two experiments were conducted to validate the developed computer program. By the experiment no. l , direct and internal reflected component in the room were measured. Subsequently, the experiment no.2 was set up for measuring interior illuminance due to the daylight transmission through window. The data recorded from both experiments were compared to the results obtained from daylight calculation tools. Comparing the illuminance calculated by each estimation tools with the results obtained from the experiment no.1, it found that the results calculated by computer program could achieve more accuracy than those obtained from the daylight factor and lumen method. Thereafter, the illuminance from experiment no.2 and computer program were compared. From the comparing results, the illuminance calculated by computer program and obtained from the experiment correspond each other and the maximum of average percent difference of these two data is about 25 percent. |
