AbstractDeformation data from 8 project sites in Bangkok metropolis are studied. Deformation patterns are analyzed with Clough et al. (1989) and Mana and Clough (1981). Results revealed that factor of safety against basal heave is not a significant factor to the deformation of rigid diaphragm wall. Extended studies are performed using finite element programs. Comparison are made between site measurements and calculations with finite element programs such as PLAXIS and CRISP90 and finite difference programs such as WALLAP and PAROI 2. It shows that direct correlated of subgrade reaction modulus to undrained modulus underestimates actual soil stiffness. For FEM programs refined input shall be selected. Meanwhile, back analysis of five project sites are performed.with FEM programs using Elasto-Plastic Mohr Coulomb Soil Model. It is found that modulus for soft clay Eu = 280Su to 350Su. and Eu= 1200Su to 1600Sufor stiff clay layer. Finally, parametric effect such as foundation pile distance, modulus for stiff clay layer and K01 in the effect to the amount of deformations are studied.
