AbstractIn today's rapidly changing environment where liberalization trends and technological advances have been leading change, Thai telecommunications companies will no longer be able to exercise an exclusive right, granted by law, to protect its monopoly. This study identifies the major reform and ways for the Communication Authority of Thailand (CAT) to prepare to compete in this environment. Corporatization of the CAT is one way of preparing to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities in the telecommunications sector. In this study, a SWOT analysis is used to analyze and identify the company's strengths and weaknesses, combining with external opportunities and threats. It presents recommendations to the administration of CAT as well as to the government in support of their decision making concerning the development of Thailand's communications in the future which would not only benefit CAT but the people and the country as a whole. The analysis of the finding result shows that CAT should improve its organization and operations and enhance management efficiency through changes in its organization structure; better human resource management; and improved financial, marketing and technological strategies.
