Abstract | Six cases of instrumented data from deep excavation in Bangkok subsoil were collected and analyzed. The Mohr-Coulomb model in PLAXIS program was used for back analysis of lateral wall movement of two projects. The values of Eu (undrained Young's modulus) were adjusted iteratively until the observed and predicted horizontal wall displacements were in agreement. The results show that back-analysis modulus are higher than modulus value obtained from conventional laboratory test. The relationship between nondimensionalized wall movement (8Hmax/H) of sheet pile wall and FS. against basal heave show similar trend as proposed by Mana and Clough (1981 ). However, for diaphragm wall project the nondimensionalized wall movements do not depend on FS. against basal heave. The back-calculated earth pressure from measured strut load of sheet pile wall is comparable to apparent earth pressure diagram suggested by Terzaghi and Peck (1967). The earth pressure based on FEM is slightly higher than measured value. Predictions of lateral wall movement by using critical state soil model were also performed and compared to field observation. |
