Abstract | Headhunting or executive search service is the most lucrative specialty among consulting services. In the headhunting process, business organizations contract out the tasks of recruitment and seclection of their executives, high professionals or highly skilled persons to external consutltants. After a decade of economic liberalization under the "doi moi" (renovation) policy, Vietnam seems not to be clearly aware of this service, even though its market is fledgling. Moreover, Vietnam leaves this lucrative service for some foreign consulting firms to serve local customers since the beginning of this decade, whereas Vietnamese Government employment agencies and private employment firms have been targeting only low end or lower-middle end of the labor market. Very few local management consulting firms truly aware of and provide executives for client organizations currently operating in this rapid growth country. This study analyses the conditions of the the executive search market in Vietnam. The shortage of the highly skilled worker, professional managers etc. creates high demand in the high level personnel market. A few newly - established consulting firms providing this service unlikely meet the requirement of client organizations, due to the unawareness of the service by business community and policy makers. Possibilities for integration of this service to the local consulting firms are factual, provided that they acquire a appropriate technique and a thorough search conducting process. |
