| Abstract | Telemedicine is telecommunications that connects a patient and health-care provider through live two-way audio/video transmission across distances and that permits effective diagnosis, treatment and other health care activities. Many hospitals have processed a very large number of cases through their telemedicine system. Because of these implementations are not all in success, it will be better if we have a set of principles that will assist in telemedicine's successful management and operation. In this research study, the author tries to review of development and implementation of telemedicine system, study the information technology that can support a good system and also design a general model for the system. Most of Asia Pacific countries have developed telemedicine system as an alternative to solve problems. Their telemedicine projects focus on teleconsultations, teleradiology, teledermatology, teleeducation, and distance learning. There are various technologies, which can be used in telemedicine system, like ATM, Video Conferencing, ISDN, Satellite, and Internet/Intranet. The movement of telemedicine to the Internet/Intranet and migration of the technology to a desktop configuration significantly enhances the ability of telemedicine system. The general model allows remote access to hypermedia medical record and automatic management of interactive communications between physician and consultants. |
