Abstract | Small business development will be important for the growing market economy of Cambodia. Small business makes a major contribution in creating jobs, absorbing redundant civil servants and demobilized soldiers. The significant , broad-based gains in output and living standards require accelerated development of small and medium enterprises. Macroeconomic policies have made a major contribution to small business development, however, much more needs to be done at policy level to promote the small business growth. The result of this research shows that Cambodian entrepreneurs face the difficult problems in operations, credit, technology management and in business strategies. These problems could be solved partly by assisting entrepreneurs to develop better small business strategy with credit support from government or non-government assistance programs. This study identified policies, specifically the policy of small business credit, and support. The long term contribution of small business development to the economic future of Cambodia could be improved with better government policy and programs to develop the skills and capabilities of Cambodian entrepreneurs. |
