Abstract | Thailand enjoyed decades of ongoing strong and stable expansion and is one of the developing countries in Asia winning world's acclaim for its successful economic development. However, in 1996, it hit a snag which is now marked a severing 'economic crisis'. It also faced a problem similar to that of Japan and South Korea (in the past), mainly a large amount of bad debts sustained by the financial sector due to the bubbly-style of economic development. This problem has continued to exist and is severing until the present and is confronted with many other paralleling problems in the political scene and business environment. This paper presents the outcomes of the exploitative research about the Thai construction companies' organizational responses to the issues and trends brought-up by the economic crises. That is on the basis of understanding how the issues affect each of the companies, and the differing organizational responses they have made, of which influences may be similar or vary from one company to the other. The analysis has been viewed from different perspectives, that is, situational analysis of the Thai economy, the construction industry, and to a great extent the four companies focused in this research. |
