AbstractHowever we present contents of teaching materials, some learners will have more difficult with them then others. CAT involves individualized instruction using computer technology to facilitate learning at different level of education. Individualized computer instruction is one way to overcome the problem which establishes efficiency and effectively dissemination of the teaching materials and support in more flexible and user friendly. As a new approach to develop an educational tool which cover the teacher and the teaching materials performance, object-oriented methodology was applied by adding multimedia, hypertext and hypermedia and concepts. This thesis is concerned with creating an object-oriented multimedia-based CAT educational tool. The model has been formulated with five components: Presentation System, Teacher, Course Outline, Assessment and Teaching Materials. The work shows that the object-oriented methodology is useful to determine the objects including its characteristics and behaviour in the problem domain, to create the design model and to ease the implementation. Finally, the courseware, as prototype, was developed by using the Asymetrix ToolBook Instructor II to support and test the model. The Instructor's easy-to-use-tool is support the object-oriented concepts to construct and deliver powerful multimedia-based learning environment.
