AbstractIn the construction industry, usual arrangements for carrying out works generate various impacts to a social. Legal involvement is unavoidable for the industry. Therefore dealing with construction project claims for not only technical skill but also construction contracts and law expertise. Even importances of these comprehensions have been lightened, practitioners rarely recognize them. Students are also reluctant in learning the subject. Inadequate legal background, different learning styles, and requirement of additional support documents are recognizable obstacles in learning the subject. Hypertext system possesses features that can facilitate in overcoming the existing obstacles. ToolBook II Instructor was employed as an authoring system for constructing the prototype hypertext system in assisting the learning of such subject. Links between legal terms and their explanations were developed in this study. Alternative knowledge presentation by means of animation and multimedia-based method were contained into the courseware. The learner-based aspect was also taken into account during a designing process. Performances of the software were tested via questionnaire provided to students who were taking this course. The primary testing indicated satisfactions, both for assisting in learning process and reviewing before examination, from the users. The introduced animation presentations also got pleasure from the users. The developed hypertext system has been proved its appropriateness in assisting the learning of legal concepts and construction contracts subject.
