AbstractThe construction supervision of underground work is more constrained due to the uncertain factors of geological condition which cannot be identified for over all area for its engineering property during the detail design. As such, local geological condition are revealed and immediately performed treatment at the stage of excavation. The large powerhouse cavern of Lam Ta Khong Pumped Storage Project has been commenced for excavation in June 1996. The construction works are mainly constrain with the geological stabilizing work, the excavation system and operation for mucking material. By the engineering management information (EMI) which is the vital essence of construction supervision in monitoring and evaluating to direct the proper way for work completion. The excavation work with blasting technique and rock supporting work with rockbolt and prestressed rock anchor are major sequence of powerhouse cavern excavation. The detail of sequential work shall be identified the each construction phase, planning, excavation and follow-up, in order to clarify the inevitable EMI which necessitated supervision and applied in the project as well as the attributes of EMI in term of qualitative information.
