AbstractThe Objective of this research is to analyse loan pricing behaviors through a pratical pricing process--Prime Rate Pricing Method (PRPM) in Land Bank of Taiwan. Loan pricing conerns the 3 'C principles, such customer, cost, and competition. This research aims to analyse the lending rate difference through constructing an analystical model of loan pricing to illustrate the triangle relationship in lending business. Loan pricing formulation for PRPM can be divided by three categories : (1). Prime Rate, (2). Markup Rate, and (3). Deductible Markup Rate. Each of the categories have different factors attributed to the risk premium, target profit, product characteristic, cost of funds, customer status, and rivals power. Major findings: 1. Loan pricing behaviors are affected by the ( 1 ). internatl factors such as the transfer price, perfonnance assessment system, loan authority system, fund management system, credit culture and credit philosophy. (2). Competition factor, such as density of financial institution, rival's market power, substituion for loan, and (3). Customer factors, such credit condition, deposit contribution and previous relation with bank. 2. There exist lending rate differences in. the area of product, sector, industry and region. Based on the related factors of analysis and finding, the study has made conclusions and recommendations.
