Abstract | The consumer credit becomes an ever-increasing force in the Thai people's life. The number of credit programs and plans have expanded dramatically, along with the percentage of Thai people that uses credit. Many sources of consumer credit such as the commercial banks, the sales finance companies, as well as retail installment credit have now provided the number of product line and offered credit purchasing option to the customers. Among those products with credit purchasing option, personal automation products are one of the most popular products. The study aims to explore the consumer finance business in Thailand and examine the operation of the credit providers in order to assess the market feasibility for credit financing of personal automation products in Thailand. The questionnaire survey and focus group discussions were conducted to appraise the current market size and potential customers for credit usage in personal automation products. The finding results indicate that the consumer finance business has shown a good potential in Thailand. Thai people prefer credit purchasing option and the new line of products is continuously offered. Therefore, the competition has become severely by using various conditions such as low interest rate, no down payment, etc. At present, credit usage in personal automation has grown on an average but the demand tends to decrease in the future due to many factors such as declining prices and rapid change of technology. Therefore, product usage, target segmentation, credit package, delivery channel, and anticipated risk such as bad debt are among those key success factors for new entrants to be considered. |
