AbstractThe study examines Japanese and Korean joint ventures in Mongolia from a cross-cultural perspective. The main focus of the research is the managerial practice of foreign companies in the context of joint ventures, and the adaptability of Japanese and Korean managerial techniques to the local environment. The framework of the study was based on a management style which consisted of key managerial dimensions and cross-cultural evaluation of joint ventures according to the model. The findings showed that despite the historical, social and economical differences of the related countries there is suitable cross-cultural fit between the management approaches of Korean and Japanese and their Mongolian counterparts which resulted in efficiency of the joint ventures management. However, Korean management approaches had a stronger relationship to effective joint ventures.
