Abstract | This study deal with the signalling interworking between broadband and narrowband network. The common .channel signalling system SS No.7 play the role to be used especially for the interworking at the Network-Node Interface. Current SS No.7 is used for N-ISDN by connecting to !SUP (ISDN User Part) level. To make the same connection as simple as possible for B-ISDN application, the same level ofISUP has been modified to be used in the B-ISDN. Both ISUP for narrow-band (called N-ISUP) and broadband (called B-ISUP) are then interworked with each other via the Interworking Unit (IWU) that has been recommended by ITU-T. Signalling network evolution is one important part to be discussed. Here, the ATM trunking service is proposed and three methods of interworking are stated. The solutions for signalling network evolution are then discribed. The introduction of a new broadband network and then connect to the existing narrowband network is seem to be more simple but less effective performance compared to the introduction of broadband signalling within an existing network. The interworking scenarios proposed in ITU-T I. 580 are also explained. The impact of interworking performance such as message length and delay should be taken into account when considering on the system. The software design of signalling interworking function between B-ISUP and NISUP is proposed. The output results of normal successful basic call setup and cleardown between B-ISUP and N-ISUP according to the different message formats are studied. It is seen that various fields within parameters of the signalling messages such as interworking indicator, propagation delay counter, echo control device, etc. have to be updated when mapped from one side to the other side. |
