Abstract | The main objective of this research was targeted at improving the seismic response of build- ing structure by adding non-structural concrete cladding panel as energy dissipating cladding system (EDCS). The EDCS were be functioned as structural bracing frame to give stiffness and rigidity to the building, and reduced inter-story drift caused by different earthquake ground motion. An innovative design of spandrel cladding panel were also be used by in- stalling energy dissipating machine VPD (viscous fluid damper) to the exterior faade panel. In the design, VPD prevented seismic damages caused to the cladding panels and connection joints during the cladding interaction, and also helped to dissipate the lateral energy during seismic event. The test model was 20 stories and 3 bays steel building, and run in ETABs 2016. Different concrete properties and thickness are provided for spandrel precast cladding panel, and different parameters of the viscous damper are also considered. The best analysis cases were be recognized. |
