AbstractIn the wireless communication system design, propagation channel modeling is a very important component. Ray tracing method is one of the valuable tools to predict the channel characteristics. Specially for indoor radio channel, prediction tool is a necessity. It allows the designers to plan and install wireless communication systems in an effective way. Previously developed radio propagation prediction tools show good results between measured and predicted values, but till now the.influence of types of construction materials on the radio propagation is not considered sufficiently. In this research work, the effects of the different types of construction materials are embedded into radio prediction tool and then the software is applied for simple layout room. The algorithm used in calculation of main indoor channel characteristics allows to concentrate on the effects of different types of construction materials on radiowave propagation inside a room. Also the user-friendly interface was created for the radio propagation prediction tool. The source code is available and was tested for SunSP ARC machines. Wideband channel characteristics are determined from the simulation model to give access to detailed information on the channel. The results of the wideband simulations are found to be in good agreement with theory and results previously obtained. Use of this software reduces the time required to acquire the characteristics of the indoor radio channel significantly.
