| Abstract | This project is based on a study that was done in order to identify the influential factors affect- ing travelers in Bangkok, Thailand for their mode choice behavior on public transportation. It is also emphasized on the behavior of different traveler groups in different distance ranges from selected stations. The socioeconomic characteristics of the travelers in Bangkok area has also been studied in this project. The study was based on a questionnaire survey that was carried out in Bangkok area. A binary logit model was used in the analysis. The results found that travel time in public transport, gender, age, average income, auto ownership, career and travel cost in private transport are the factors that influence travelers' mode choice behavior. The study also found that when people live far away from the public transport station, their ability to use public transport becomes low since it is less reachable for them and when their household move closer to the station, the public transport becomes frequently usable since it becomes more reachable for them. |
