Abstract | Power sector of Cambodia, at the present, is under the urgent need to reconstruct and rehabilitate to meet the rapid growth of the power demand due to the economic of this country grow up very fast. Particularly, Battambang city is under the shortage of power supply because of de-rated generating facilities while the economic activities of this city is growing up rapidly. This study is revised all the past performance aspect and future planning aspect. Initially, this study is to evaluate the performance of BPU in the past on the view of especially Technical performance aspect. Secondly a demand analysis and forecasting based on the data recorded in the past. Thirdly, major opportunities to improve the system performance and rehabilitation recommendation of BPU. Finally, a Battambang Power System planning is formulated. To evaluate the performance of this utility some indicators were used based on the recorded data in the past. Power demand forecast is done base on the past and present load demand and the foreseen of economic growth in the future. The recommendation were done according to the experiences from several successful power utilities of the neighboring country and as well as based on the Battamabang power plant issues within this province. Whereas, the system planning was applied duet to the short and long term planning of EDC and MIME. |
