AbstractSince there was the energy crisis in the early of 1970s, the energy conservation became the interest field. Daylighting and electric Lighting integration is the one method to conserve energy. It can give a benefit in the term of reduction of electricity consumption. However, in the real situation where the place is complicated, the prediction is quite difficult job to give accurate results. This study demonstrated the case of daylighting and electric lighting integration in the real situation. This study was done in the one portion of the public area in the library building in AIT campus. Two categories of control system were investigated. The first is Automated On/Off Switching system. The other is Automated Continuous Linear Dimming system. The results show more saving energy by Continuous Linear Dimming system over the On/Off Switching system. However, the prediction of daylight calculation is the one important step of this study. Two calculation methods were used in this investigation. The first is Lumen Method that gave large error in this study. The second method is using computer program named Radiance which can handle the calculation of lighting in the complicated space., and has many functions to manipulate lighting calculation. The results show that Radiance gave more accurate results than the Lumen Method.
