Abstract | Tourism has become a significant expression of human activity that has contributed and still contributes much to receiving countries' economies, social welfare, and cultural patrimony. The hotel industry plays an important role in this sector. Vietnam has enjoyed an fast growth in tourism and hospitality over the last few years. However, the quality of hotel system in Vietnam still faces serious problems when compared to the other neighboring countries. This study identifies some of the problems regarding hotel industry development in Vietnam. The experiences of selected countries in Asia are reviewed to draw lessons for tourist authorities and hotel managers in Vietnam to formulate an appropriate development strategy. |
