Abstract | Finance is, in a real sense, the cornerstone of the enterprise system - good financial management is vitally important to the economic health of business firms, hence to the nation and the world. It is financial managers who involve in financial management of businesses. The financial manager's task is to acquire and use funds so as to maximize the value of the firm. In more detail, they make decisions regarding which assets their firms should acquire, how those assets should be financed, and how the firm should manage its existing resources. As today's business managers search for ways to raise their funds, they are increasingly faced with the decision about how to finance capital assets. This research study deals with leasing as a type of medium and long-term financing which is commonly used by financial managers as an alternative to borrowing to finance fixed assets. Leasing has recently introduced in Vietnam as a specialized financial service. This pioneer market implies high risk as equally as abundance of attractive opportunities. This research study outlines the whole picture of current leasing industry in Vietnam. A quantitative analysis of the leasing market potential is also exhibited to demonstrate the really huge demand of this young market in the coming years. The advantages of the first mover in the market place are widely known by businessmen. Hopefully, a couple of findings in this research study are going to offer strategists of potential leasing companies useful information about leasing industry in Vietnam. As other industries, leasing is heavily influenced by government policy. In this study, the regulations on leasing activities are introduced and analyzed to recognize the rational points and the weaknesses of this legal framework for leasing operation, so far. This work is carried out in the effort of contributing to a better understanding of Vietnam's policy regarding leasing activities. |
