Abstract | The multicopter is well-known as an imaging platform. Estimating the height of tall objects is risky for humans. One way to estimate the height of tall objects would be to use a multicopter flying above the tall objects with a camera to record video. Compared to using a clinometer to measure the angle from the ground and calculate the height, the benefit will be safety for humans and less estimation error. In this report, I show that combining GPS, video and optical flow, it is possible to estimate terrain elevation (in particular the elevation of tree-tops) accurately. |
