Abstract | Eye controlled wheelchair is an advanced hi tech self-support system compared to the con- ventional wheelchairs. In this project a wheelchair prototype is designed and implemented. The specially designed pupil detection module consisting a web camera for pupil tracking is used to detect the pupil orientation. Six specific commands such as Forward, Left, Right, Stop, Accelerate and Decelerate are visually depicted. The web camera identifies them and sends integer signals to the microcontroller via serial communication. Contour method is used to implement the image processing algorithm. PID speed control algorithm is used to control the speed of the motors when moving forward, accelerating and decelerating. The final result of this project is a complete autonomous eye controlled wheelchair. |
