AbstractThis report presents an integrated approach for milling a free form surface using 4-axis CNC milling machine. The freeform surface generated from the parametric surface equations is used as a model and milling is carried out by Sherline 2010 CNC. Regarding to generating NC programs, integration of inverse kinematics equations which convert the work piece coordinate system to the machine coordinate system is involved. The simulation is carried out in 24 scenarios with input variables of 2 types of degree of freedom; 3-axis and 4-axis, 3 sizes of tools diameters and 2 different max scallop heights.
