Abstract | Hydroponic is a trending method to cultivate plants without the support of soil. These systems are water based systems and there are on-going researches based on this. We know that light is an essential factor to grow plants. In present world growers are facing problems regarding about the limitation of natural light. Countries which are receiving a limiting amount of light have this problem. Their agricultural production is lower than the countries which are receiving plenty of sun light. There are on-going researches to overcome this issue. In this project we developed two hydroponic systems with two different light treatments. One hydroponic system kept in greenhouse condition which has the natural sun light treatment. Other one was kept in a dark room which have LED Red and Blue lights. The wavelengths of Red and blue are more effective to the growth of plant. We cultivated lettuce as our test plant in both hydroponic systems. Lettuce have short growth cycle and easy to handle. Lettuce were grown hydroponically for 42days and we measured growth parameters, weather parameters and other factors which are affect to the growth of the lettuce. From the data we obtained during this experiment we got to know that LED light treatment is good for the lettuce plantation. |
