AbstractThis paper present and compare the results from the survey of bus, bus-stop and the opinion of old aged users on the public bus system of Yangon and needs of it. The survey location of the research is chosen in the downtown area of Yangon in order to acquire large variety of population. It is range from the range from Tha Khin Mya Pan Chan Bus Stop to Sule Pagoda, about eight blocks in length and range from Bo Gyoke Road to Strand Road in width. For analyzing the bus facility, buses running in those area (56, 57, 58, 39, 37, 35, 7, and 4) are considered as sample. For bus-stop facility, bus-stops located in and around designated location for research. Percent ratio equation, ratio = no of buses with respect to their grade/total sample size, is used to analyze the overall facility of the Yangon bus system. Resulted that bus-stop in Yangon reach the standard level while buses need to improve to acquire designated requirement. Each of the specific facility required to improve is also analyze. Time comparison test is made between users, aged 60 and above and aged 30 and below. T- test is used to analyze the time comparison with the significant level of p=0.05. The analysis is made according on five conditions (excluding both factors, both factors are provided, existing only handrail on bus, bus providing low floor and both facilities are not provided) and resulted that old aged people consumed much more time in every condition. Opinion survey is also carried out to elderly aged users (aged 60 above) and their unsatisfactory objects on Yangon bus system is also mentioned.
