Abstract | Structural Engineers require to perform to new seismic design provisions for both static and dynamic analysis for the design of structures as the accomplishment of static design structures become to design base on the performance based engineering philosophies. According to ASCE 7-10, although static analysis is sufficient for the low rise regular buildings in zone I and II, dynamic analysis will still need to be performed for both low rise and high rise buildings if the building is located in zone IV and V. Two types of dynamic analysis can be performed the buildings for seismic design as a dynamic Time History Analysis and a linear Response Spectrum Analysis. But in this present study, two-story provincial hospital has been modeled using software ETABS V16.0.0 for seismic zone IV which is located in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Dynamic responses of building under three actual earthquakes, NGA880-Landers, NGA882-Landers, NGA1636 Manjil-Iran have been investigated. This paper highlighted the accuracy and exactness of Time History analysis in comparison with the most commonly adopted Equivalent Static Analysis. |
