Abstract | It is advertised in the market that the LED lamps are much more environmental friendly to use in the industrial factories as well as in residential apartments compared to fluorescent lamps. This study is focused on the overall life cycle of the light emitting diode lamps and fluorescent lamps. That is, the study will not only consider the usage period of CFL and LED lamps but also the manufacturing of the product and its disposal as well. The data will be analyzed using Simapro software to find out which type of lamp has less impact on the environment. The results will also be used to estimate the amount of emission to the environment via lighting sources by an ordinary family. Possible improvements to improve life cycle of the two types of the lamps will be considered once the conclusions are made. |
