AbstractThis study conducted a survey in Mansri Sector of Bangkok Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MW A) to evaluate the hygienic quality of supplied water. Bacterial parameters, residual chlorine and turbidity were used as indicators for the evaluation. On the basis of the study, the supplied water can be generally considered safe and fit for drinking purpose. A questionnaire was conducted to study water users preference for drinking water. From the analysis results, it has been found that consumers are more inclined to choose treated tap water and their preferences varied with circumstances. Boiled water is favored to household drinking while filtered water is the first priority of drinking water at working places. In general, public reject to drink directly from the tap. Bottled water is another important sources for drinking water. It has been found to be secondly favored by consumers for both home use and working places consumption. Bottled water is commonly regarded cleaner and safer than tap water. Appearance of the water has been found to be the most important factor for customers to judge water quality.
