AbstractResearch and development in robotics related to sports have inspired many individuals to reduce knowledge gap in the implementation of autonomous systems into sports practicing. To play or practice interestingly tennis requires at least one opponent. Otherwise players have to play with a wall if there is no opponent to practice with. On the other hand there are tennis ball launching machines which are widely used in tennis clubs as well as by individual tennis players to practice. But these machines are still made in minimal level of autonomy. The most advanced machine out there, is still capable of randomizing the shots between a set of predefined points. Which in turn, for a player in intermediate to expert level only requires a few minutes to catch up with the predefined points and predict the next shot. So this reduces the interesting play into a dull session within minutes. The Design and Development of a Tennis Ball Shooting Robot with Vision-Aided Player Position Identification is an attempt to use the computer vision libraries to identify the player position in the opponent side and use this data into randomizing the point it shoots accordingly so that the player would not be able to predict the point of ball drop beforehand making the practice sessions more advanced even for the expert level players.
