AbstractAutomated quality control that filter the defective outputs are progressively used in manu- facturing processes to enhance their efficiency and reliability. With this extensive increase in demand, this project is aimed on introducing a low cost system on detecting deformed products by implementing a vision based approach to obtain real time measurements. The ultimate goal of this project is to obtain real time images of the products moving on a con- veyor belt, and compare its geometrical measurements and determine whether the product conforms to the given specifications fed into the system. The products which does not com- ply with the specifications, will be rejected and moved out from the conveyor belt using a single degree of freedom pneumatic cylinder. The system designed and implemented was tested using a set of glass bottles which had bottles with no deformation and bottles which were not in its proper geometrical shape. During the testing phase, 90% success was shown through the statistics obtained.
