AbstractRehabilitation and Assistive Technology is a rapidly developing field in the past few decades. Scientist, Doctors and Researchers use their combined knowledge to make assistive equip- ment for patients to recover faster than the traditional methods. WEFRE which stands for wrist, elbow forearm rehabilitation device is an arm rehabilitation system which is capable to give exercise to a patients arm while begin a stationary and portable device. This paper focus on improving the functionality of the WEFRE so that the device will become an autonomous robot with a mobile platform and a lifting module to extend the exercise up to shoulders. This mobile platform is made as an Omni Directional Three Wheeled Robot, where in the lifting mechanism is made using a linear actuator system. These two systems are developed so that it can work independently as well as a combined unit. This paper deals with the whole controlling system of such a mobile platform and its linear actuator module.
