Abstract | Stoves are one of the basic equipment which is available at all most all the houses, especially in rural areas. It has been used as a house hold item since ancient times. Currently, stoves are manufactured manually. Today automated production process takes a chillingly role regard- ing to reduce lead time, improve quality and increasing the production rate. Manufacturing in the regrades, an automated stove liner manufacturing machine has been developed during the cause of this project. An initial survey has been carried out to identify the current status, requirements and specifications of the stove that needs to be developed. A literature review has been done to check the already developed models and what improvements can be accom- modated. Based on the information gathered three main components were identified; design and development of a mould for the stove liner, design and development of a structural model that can carry out the process of manufacturing and Pneumatic and PLC control system to automate the process. Then a prototype was designed and tested for the manufacturing pro- cess. The design of mould and the structure was designed and drawn using SEMENS NXlO software and build them using mild steel. S7-PLCSIM software has been used to develop the program in PLC ladder architecture. After connecting all the components together proper clay mixture was prepared, poured to the mould and made the first stove using the automated stove liner manufacturing machine. During the testing process of the machine eleven sample stove liners were made in 2 rounds. In the first round stove liners were dried out using a heater and in the second round stove liners were dried out naturally overnight. |
