AbstractDue to the increasing electricity demand in Thailand and the limitation and exhaustability of the traditional source of electricity, wind energy becomes an attractive option for alternative electricity generation. This study covers the process of designing a vertical axis wind turbine. Beginning from airfoil selection, geometry parameters of the turbine and rotor assembly configuration, this capstone project will explain the process of performance prediction and modeling of the designed turbine using the double multiple stream tube theory and com- putational fluid dynamic. It will conclude by giving the initial parameters of airfoil, rotor geometry and predicted power as an output. Hence this study gives the guideline to satisfy the increasing need for renewable energy and provide a valuable alternative energy production source.
