Abstract | lbis study tries to show the applicability of the remote sensing and geographic inf01mation system (GIS) for urban drainage system management. The study contains the methods, assumption and conditions to be adopted in the foimulation of the basic drainage plan. The estimation of design flow rate for sto1mwater drainage channels is calculated by using hydrological model as rational method, remote sensing and GIS technologies are used as helpful tools giving an imp01tant parameters for this calculation. Remotely sensed data (Landsat TM) satellite image1y integrated with geographic information system formed the basis land use/land cover of the Study area. The GIS layers include existing channels, lakes, drainage zones, road network, urban settlement boundaries. The mapping was perfo1med using field smvey, topomap, land use map and Landsat Thematic Mapper satellite data. The satellite image processing is given the nccessa1y info1mation as land use classification. To perfo1m this study, vector based GIS tool was widely utilized for digitizing, overlaying and producing the thematic map. The design flow rate estimation and drainage zoning map are a primary data prepare preparedness plans input for the decision maker and planner. |
