AbstractThe fertilizer leaching is one of the major issue which occurs at the agricultural fields, as it removing the added fertilizer by carrying them into the deep layers of the soil and it will reduce the feasibility to that molecules by the plant root system of that particular crop at the field. This phenomenon will be changed by its magnitude, with respect to the conditions of the soil. Simply it matters the soil composition and physical characteristics for the degree of leaching. Soil practical size and soil texture are the key factors of leaching. In this experiment I have only considered about the leaching of nitrogenous fertilizers. Since the nitrogen is just a common element in the nature and it’s truly essential for the plants.78% of earth’s atmosphere is nitrogen (N2) since the strong bond between the 2 atoms made the gas more inert and there is no direct consumption of N2, as it naturally circulates with a series of chemical and biological transformations. In order to increase the production, the nitrogenous fertilizers can be added. Such as, nitrate, ammonium which can be easily absorbed by the plants. But the soil do not keep or absorb the excessive part. Then it moves downward with the drainage water freely, that process can be called as the leaching. And finally it will leach out in to the revers, cannels, and groundwater. However the leaching amount or the degree of leaching relies on few physical and chemical factors. Since the water retention capacity changes with the soil type the leaching process vehemently depend on the soil type and the texture. In this research the main scope is to find out the leaching pattern and the characteristics of the leachate in sandy soil and loamy soil.
