Abstract | CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine is one of the major components that helps for many industries in various manners. CNC machines can be able to process various kind of materials such as metal, wood, marble and plastic in a precise manner. These machines are able to do repetitive works with high quality outcomes that can helps to increase the productivity of a company. Despite all this, CNC machines are large in size. The main problem with these CNC machines is that they are heavy and large in size, so that it is unable to be moved from place to place. If you want to use them, the material or the surface which should be modified should be taken to the place where the machine is present and place the material inside the machine. But also there are applications in the industry which need to be addressed by modifying a permanently fixed surface or a material. The problem with the kind of CNCs we already have now is that, they cannot be used to modify the kind of surfaces which are permanently fixed to something or someplace. In these kind of applications the surface cannot be moved and placed inside the CNC machine. Also the ordinary CNC machine cannot be moved and placed on the fixed surface. Another problem occurs due to lack of smaller CNC machines in the market. Small designs which does not require a large CNC machine should also unnecessarily rely on larger CNC machines, which results in unnecessary power consumption. This project is trying to find a solution for this problem by developing a portable CNC machine which can be moved from place to place and place on the desired/fixed surface, which is in need to modify and use milling, drilling operations to modify the surface. Also with this new design, ordinary, larger CNC machines are no longer needed for even smaller drilling/milling operations therefore unnecessary power consumption can be eliminated. The final product is a 3 axis portable CNC machine, which also allows the user to change the speed of the spindle motor to a desired value before starting the operation. Also the CNC machine is operated by a customized GUI, which enables you to control the 3 axis, start the spindle motor, change the speed of the spindle motor and send the g-eode to the Arduino UNO microcontroller. |
