AbstractConstruction projects are always expected to create a balance between cost, time and quality. It is potential to have high quality and low cost, but at the expense of time, and equally to have high quality and a fast project, but at a cost. The quality of construction projects links to adequate Quality Management System in all phases of the project lifecycle. Design and construction are the two essential phases of the project lifecycle that significantly affect the quality of construction projects. Therefore, this paper focuses mainly on the factors that affect Quality Managements in the execution phase of construction projects in Sri Lanka. The purpose of this paper is to discover the most critical factors affecting the Quality Management and recommended some methods to improve QMS in Sri Lanka Data was collected using questionnaire surveys and semi-structured interviews. The data analysis has the prime target of achieving the objectives defined in the first chapter. The data analysis consists of quantitative and qualitative analysis. This study identified 16 critical factors which affect Quality Management in Sri Lanka under, company culture, company administration, strategy of quality and leadership. It was found that in Sri Lanka, Consultant are more consider on Quality Management than Contractors. According to the Contractors respondents, use of correct technology is the most critical factor and according to the consultants respondents Acquiring quality data and reporting is the most critical factor.
