Abstract | In this study, concentric braced frames with friction damper mainly perform to resist the seismic loading. This study contain the comparison of braced frames with respect of seismic performance for five-story (low rise), ten-story (medium rise) and twenty-story (high rise) steel frames. This project had two comparison (internal comparison and external compar- ison). In internal comparison, slip loads has taken by main parameter (story acceleration, story drift, story shear, story displacement) of the braced frame in V braced compared the results by varying the slip loads of friction damper. For this study, Los Angeles California was selected as the location of a well-known earthquake region. And then three earthquakes which occurred from this region were selected to obtain the required data for this project. For the further external study, the different bracing type chevron bracing by Chathuranika(2016) and diagonal bracing by Htar(2016) were done to compare by using friction damper. As each bracing type had the best optimum slip load, the slip load combination were be car- ried out.The best results obtained from the slip load combination of each bracing type were compared under four parameters (story drift, story displacement, story acceleration, story shear). |
