Abstract | The following study mainly focusing on identifying the best friction dampered braced frame according to three earthquakes characteristics. The main location of three earthquakes is se- lected as Los Angeles, California. This study is holding a primary analysis between Chevron braced friction dampered frames and Concentrically Braced Frames (CBF). Furthermore this study is focusing on other types of bracings and their performance regarding with 5, 10 and 20 stories with same earthquake characteristics, same frame geometry and loadings. Nor- mally, the dampered frame is acting more effective than CBF. The best performance bracing type among Chevron, Diagonal and V is Chevron. Here considered parameters for obtaining results from Ex-Tended 3-D Analysis of Building Systems (ETABS) software are, maximum story displacement, maximum story acceleration, story drift ratio and story shear. CBF and damper braced frames are using to resist earthquake damages. Seismic events are unpre- dictable and it is needed to design buildings to have maximum performance when an earth- quake arrives. Earthquake resistant design becomes more popular because it can minimize economic losses and life hazards. |
